Gigi Lai throws dinner to celebrate her marriage
Gigi Lai announced her retirement from showbiz last year and was married to Hong Kong businessman, 52-year-old Patrick Ma, just before Chinese New Year this year in Australia. On their return from honeymoon in Europe, the newly wed threw a nuptial dinner in Hong Kong for Lai's family and guests. In her speech on the dinner, she said she is happy to have found a reliable lifetime partner
Held at the five-star Peninsular Hotel, the dinner was specially thrown for families and friends. TVB's management Virginia Lok and celebrities Catherine Tsang and Sheren Tang were their only guests from showbiz.
Before dinner began, Ma's spokesperson expressed gratitude on behalf of the couple by distributing ang baos of more than hundred dollars to each media present. Halfway through the dinner, Lok came out of the banquet hall to spoke to the media. She described the dinner to be a cocktail party and Lai's brother, who suffered major injuries from an accident years back, was very happy on watching the couple's photo montage which tracked their growth. Lok also said she is touched to see Lai in bliss.
According to reports, Lai, in her wedding gown, said her vows with her husband on the dinner. She said, "I am thankful to have found someone who loves me. I thank the media for your concern. Please be assured that my husband loves me very much and will take good care of me. I am very happy to have found someone with whom I can share my life."
Lok also said that Lai and husband will pick some pretty wedding photos for media's publication later.
